"Gen" Lewis Cass Fry Dead
Former Student of Wabash College Who Joined Coxey's Army Dead
"Gen" Lewis Cass Fry died at Brice, Mo., Tuesday after an illness of six months. He acquired the title of "General" in 1894, when he joined Coxey's army at Massilon, O., and marched to the coast with that army, commanding the Pacific coast division, which marched from San Francisco to Washington. The deceased was born and reared in this city and resided here until 1873.
At one time he was in the drug business with his brother William, conducting a store where the W.W. Johnson store now stands on Main street. He married a Lafayette lady who was divorced from him and married a man in New York, who is now worth several hundred thousand dollars. He was a graduate of Wabash college and in after life became quite an eccentric character.
General Fry was well known to the older residents of the city and his death will recall his residence here. The message announcing his death have no particulars beyond the mere announcement of his demise. He was a son of Dr. Fry, which was a resident of this city some thirty-five years ago and a prominent physician. -Lafayette Journal
