Cleaston F. Warner YORK Cleaston F. Warner, 82, passed away and went home to be with his God at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at York Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Catherine (Strayer) Warner, his wife of nearly 61 years. They were married on August 21, 1948.

A Memorial Service for Mr. Warner will be held in celebration and thanksgiving for his life at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 201 S. Main St., Spring Grove, with the Rev. Daniel V. Biles, III, officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall immediately after the service. Funeral services are under the direction of Robert E. Irwin Funeral Home and Cremation Service, P.C., Spring Grove.

Born January 30, 1927, in York, Cleaston was the beloved son of the late Orpha (Black) Warner and Elvan C. Warner.

He graduated from William Penn High School in 1945. He proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy and during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. He then graduated from Gettysburg College with a B.S. in Chemistry in 1952, he belonged to the TEKE Fraternity, where his wife, Catherine, was 'Sweetheart' of the fraternity in 1951. Mr. Warner worked for P.H. Glatfelter Co. as a supervisor for over 36 years retiring in January of 1993.

Mr. Warner was a sports enthusiast and an avid cyclist. He was devoted to his family, his God, and his country and always cherished the time he spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Steven Warner of York; five daughters, Debbie Ruppert and husband, Steven of Dover, Cindy Brown and husband, David of Dover, Cherie Flaherty and husband, Paul of York, Dr. Abby Davis and husband, Greg of York, and Libby Warner of York.; two grandsons, Matt Rodgers and Nathan Rodgers; his granddaughter, Kasey Rodgers; and a niece. He was predeceased by his sister, Jenny.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society. Memories may be shared
