Fred L. Smith, 80, of 1836 Desoto,died at 5:30pm Saturday in Willis Knighton Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Smith was a resident of Shreveport for 19 years and a resident of Red River Parish for 39 years, and a native of Ratcliff, Ark.
He was a memeber of the Temple Baptist Church 50 years, a retired building contractor, and a member of the Carpenter's local union.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Temple Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Reuben Monk officiating, assisted by Elder N.W. Asbell of Bethel Primitive Baptist of Blanchard and Elder Pat Brown of Mt. Paron Baptist Church of Minden, with burial in Forest Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his widow: Mrs. Laura Alice Smith of Shreveport; five sons, Harry Smith of North Little Rock, Clyde Smith of Slidell, Hoyt Smith of Coushatta, George Smith of Shreveport and Marion Smith of Venezuela, South America; one daughter, Mrs. Rueben Monk of Shreveport; 16 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
