CLARENCE CLINE DIES AT AGE 85

Clarence Charles Cline died early yesterday at San Andreas Hospital
following a brief illness. Mr Cline was born in Mansfield, Ohio, and
came to California in 1900 settling in Oroville. He spent much of his life
in the dredging and mining business and is believed to have worked on the
first dredger in California. He had been employed by the Yuba Construction Co.
and worked for a time with Natomas Co. Mr. Cline also mined in Siam, Australia,
New Guinea and Siberia. His most recent affiliation was with the Gold Hill Dredging
Co., as a dredge master. Mr Cline was married in Vallejo in 1918 and came to
Camanche in 1935, where he resided at the time of his death. His wife, Eda L. Cline,
died in 1952. He is survived by a son, George Cline, of Sacramento, a sister, Dr. Harriett
Bigham of Laguna Beach, and two grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Laura
Patterson of Oroville. Mr. Cline was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Lodi.
Funeral service will be held July 13, Friday, at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Lodi
Funeral Home. The Rev. John T. Raymond will officiate. Entombment will follow at the
Abbey of the Chimes, Vallejo, at 2 p.m. Friends, if they wish, may send contributions
to the American Cancer Society
