Merle Lyn Crowell, 87, of Yakima, WA passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at Garden Village.

Merle was born on December 8, 1915 in Didsbury, Canada to Lyn and Ethel Crowell. His family moved from Canada to Walla Walla, WA when Merle was ten years old. From Walla Walla they moved to Chewelah, WA. When Merle was a teenager he moved to the Yakima Valley.

Merle married Phronie Poisel on February 14, 1938. They lived and farmed in the White Swan area until 1959. After leaving the farm he worked for Sears & Roebuck for thirteen years. Merle was a member of the Terrace Heights Assembly of God Church.

Merle is preceded in death by his loving wife, Phronie; both parents; and a brother, Dan Crowell.

Merle is survived by three children, son Chuck Crowell and wife Betty, son Bob Crowell and wife Michele and daughter Jan Bickerstaff and husband Bill, all of Yakima; a sister, Mabel Olsen of Helena, MT; three brothers, Lloyd Crowell of Yakima, Kenneth Crowell of Milton-Freewater, OR and Bud Crowell of Ritzville, WA; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Merle is also survived by a special friend, Doris Dean.
