Ethel Dennis Hambleton, 97, formerly of Dixiana Drive, Owensboro, KY, died Friday, March 9, 2007, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville, KY. She was born on January 8, 1910 to the late William and Lena (Kirtley) Dennis on a farm outside Paradise, KY. Ethel was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. She had retired from the Daviess County School System as a custodian. She enjoyed her many friends and in her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, tending her many flowers and, having been raised on a farm, she was always interested in the weather, whether it be winter, spring, summer or fall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Hambleton, her sisters Eula Mae Dennis and Cora Lee Powell and her brother, Raymond Dennis.
Survivors include her nephew, Kenny Mayhugh of Nelson Creek, KY; her sisters, Laura Mayhugh of Nelson Creek and Marguerite Melheart of Louisville, KY and several other nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the staff of Muhlenberg Community Hospital for taking such good care of her during the past 5 years.
Services are at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2007, at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday and after 10:00 a.m. on Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home.
