Dolores Gupton Rader, lovingly known to many as "Dodo", passed away after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's on January 25, 2018. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Rader, III and parents, Thurman and Gladys Gupton.
Born in West Columbia on June 4, 1933, Dolores graduated from Columbia High School as Salutatorian where she was voted Most Popular Girl for four years. After high school, Dolores attended Southern Methodist University as a president of Delta Zeta Sorority, where she majored in Business Education. Dolores loved people and being involved with her community. She led an active life and was involved in many organizations, dedicating her time to The Fort Worth Junior Woman's Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, serving as president of the Fort Worth Panhellenic, and as president of the Fort Worth Opera Guild, The Bluebird Circle, The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and The Guineas, just to name a few. When she wasn't giving her time to others, Dolores could be found traveling the world. Dolores's personality and beautiful smile drew others to her. She brought a certain style and sophistication to all of her efforts and was a friend to many generations. She lived a productive life, with an extraordinary commitment to her family, friends, and community.
Dolores is survived by her son, Ace Brandt (Kathy) of Maypearl, TX, daughter, Cindy Saville (Earl) of West Columbia, and sister Peggy Boone (Kenneth) of West Columbia. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Melanie Adame (Adam) of Angleton, Jake Toney of West Columbia, Lauren Swanson (John) of Fort Worth, Brittany Smith (Chris) of West Columbia, and step granddaughters, Kayce McCormick (Jody) of Austin, and Elizabeth Dodds (Bryan) of West Columbia; along with great-grandchildren Eric Adame, Bailey Toney, Emma and Riley Smith, and Tyler, Rhys, and Griff Dodds; niece, Kim Clinch of West Columbia and nephew, Billy Danford (Melanie), of Kyle, TX, as well as many cousins.
A viewing for Dolores will be held at 1:00 in the afternoon on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Columbia United Methodist Church in West Columbia. The service will follow at 2:00. Pallbearers are Eric Adame, Sam Clinch, Billy Danford, Nash Danford, Tyler Dodds, and Tracy Gupton.
