LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Sarah Knight Burr, 85, passed away Monday, January 22, 2018 at her home. She was born April 4, 1932 in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Otis Knight and Virginia Starnes Knight and was the wife of Jasper Burr, Sr. She had worked for Springs Industries and later retired from the Lancaster County School District. She enjoyed gardening, loved canning her vegetables and was a wonderful homemaker. Mrs. Burr was a charter member of Eastside Baptist Church.
Mrs. Burr is survived by her husband of 70 years, Jasper Burr, Sr.; two sons, Jerry Burr and his wife Barbara and Otis Shorty Burr; a daughter, Barbara Haire and her husband James all of Lancaster; a brother, Ray Knight of Lancaster; a special friend, Wanda Cooper; seven grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Burr was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Jackie Burr and Terry Burr; a grandson, James Russell Haire; five brothers and five sisters.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Burr will be 11:00 am Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Eastside Baptist Church by Rev. Eric Plyler, Rev. Donald Tillman and Rev. Curtis Cameron. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
