Panny Ruth Alston Royer
December 24, 1932 – January 22, 2018

Panny Ruth Alston Royer passed away on Monday morning, January 22, 2018 at a local care facility at the age of 85. Panny was a long-time member of Temple Baptist Church in DeQuincy, LA. She was the church pianist for many years, and also played the piano for funeral services at other churches in the area. She was a Sunday School teacher. Panny was Salutatorian of her graduating class at Ragley High School and excelled in playing basketball. She was also a member of the Ragley Historical Society. In her younger years, she loved to travel and was an avid deer hunter. Panny was a loving housewife and an excellent cook. She is survived by one brother, Norman Alston and wife Virginia of Laurel, Mississippi, sister-in-law, Lois Alston, and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Medford Royer, parents Nathan Alston and Pearl Hollingsworth Alston, two brothers, LaVerne Alston and wife, Bessie, and LaRoy Alston. The funeral service will be held at Temple Baptist Church in DeQuincy, LA on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 2:00pm. The pastor, Rev. Bruce Austin will officiate. Visitation will begin at 12:00pm at the church on Thursday and will continue until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Masonic Cemetery in DeQuincy.
