YORK Vera P. (Small) Emenheiser, 97, passed away Friday, March 30, 2007, at her home. She was the loving wife of Robert U. Emenheiser, of Red Lion, for 34 years on December 24, 2006, and Elvin E. Knipple, who passed away in 1968. Burial will be in Schellsburg Cemetery at a later date. Vera was born June 18, 1909, in Hooversville. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin Arthur and Clara Jane (Pebley) Small. She served as a practical nurse at the former Somerset State Hospital for 17 and a half years, until her retirement. In addition to her husband, Robert, Vera leaves three daughters, Thelma Adams of York, and Ruth Ross and Lois Keslar, both of Northfield, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; 34 greatgrandchildren; eight great-greatgrandchildren; a stepdaughter, Bonnie Sweitzer of York; three stepgrandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ruby Berkey; six brothers; and three sisters.
