Another of the "Greatest Generation" has left us. Irwin M. Goot, age 94, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday the 25th of January. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
Irwin was born in San Antonio, Texas to Betty Bearsh Goot and Joe C. Goot. During his senior year at the University of Texas, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps, where he served as a bombardier in the 10th Air Force stationed in southeast Asia, ultimately attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Following the war, Irwin returned to Texas and married the love of his life, Evelyn "Ebbie" Juran Goot, on March 27, 1945. They enjoyed 70 years of wedded bliss until her passing in December 2015.
Irwin was a successful entrepreneur, businessman, and investor. Family was always the most important thing to Irwin. He will be remembered for his incredible kindness, his infinite patience, and his indefatigable positive and upbeat attitude.
Irwin is survived by his and Ebbie's three children, Betty Tapick (Mike), Steven Goot, and Barbara Gamson (Michael). Irwin and Ebbie were blessed with six grandchildren, Jeffrey Tapick (Rebecca), Lisa Ansari (Amir), Lauren Goot, Taylor Goot (Mary), Emma Gamson and Carly Gamson. In his later life, his four great-grandchildren, Jordan Ansari, Allison Ansari, Elijah Tapick and Ezra Tapick, brought him immense joy.

His family would like to thank Dr. Dawn Stoecker-Simon at Medical Clinic of Houston and Dr. Anita Sabichi at Baylor College of Medicine and his caregivers Lanorah Woodhouse, Donna Coleman McGowan, Larita Milton and Latasha Williams for the warm and compassionate care that they provided.
