After service he met Leah Devers of Patriot and they were united in marriage on January 7, 1956 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana at the home of Reverend Nanny Hunter. Austin and Leah spent 61 years and 10 months together, which he was very proud of and told many, especially before his death. Unto this union three children were born; Steve, Karen & Angie.
Austin worked as a logger and timber buyer. He also went to school, becoming an ironworker for many years. He was also an over the road truck driver for Yellow Freight Systems and Batesville Casket Company. He was very proud to have logged over a million miles accident free, driving in all states except Hawaii, and his driving trips to Newfoundland. Austin had been attending church at the Wesleyan Church in East Enterprise, Indiana.
Austin is preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Laura, brothers, Elwood, Grant, Amiel, Melvin, Wesley and Emmett Paul and by sisters; Margarette Radcliff and Edith Mae Nowlin.
Austin leaves his wife, Leah, his son, Steve Dunaway, and daughters, Karen Staples and Angie Staat, grandchildren; Joe Dunaway, Corey Dunaway, Jeremy Staples, Bobby Whitham, Angileah Staat and Caitlyn Staat and sisters, Wilma Houze and Naomi Colen.
Steve says, " I Love You, Dad."
Karen says, "I'll see you there."
Angie says, "10-4. You're my idol."

Funeral services will be 11AM, Friday, November 10th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Visitation will be Thursday 5-8 PM at Markland Funeral Home. Burial with military graveside services will be at New Liberty Cemetery in East Enterprise, IN. Memorial donations may be made to East Enterprise Wesleyan Church, Rising Sun American Legion, or to the family. Cards are available at the funeral home.
