Prior to his graduation from the University of Colorado Boulder he served in the Korean War.
On June 18-1954 he married his beloved wife of 56 years, Carol Thoren.
Dean was a fiercely independent, capable man who loved hiking, fishing, camping and canoeing in the great outdoors.
He was a devoted father, grandfather and friend; an active member of the First Unitarian Church of Omaha and for several years served as a volunteer for Community Meals.
