John was born on May 12, 1936 in Sheboygan, son of the late Frederick and Marguerite (Keil) Steimle. He was a graduate of Central High School, Sheboygan, Class of 1954 and then attended University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh. John was a Veteran of the United States Army serving from 1954 until 1956. On April 13, 1957 he married the former Lynne Rathsack in Sheboygan. Early in his career, John was employed by the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department as a deputy sheriff, and was a partner in Manitowoc Disposal. Until his retirement, John was the owner and CEO of Americollect, and was also a partner in Credit Data Services and Finance Systems of Green Bay. John was the City of Manitowoc Harbor Master, past member and founder of Noon Kiwanis Club, past chairman for the Town of Franklin Landfill Committee, and Smart Growth Committee. John enjoyed many hobbies which include: hosting hunters at his cabin, flying, farming, gardening, boating, shooting sports and bus trips to the casino.
Survivors include his wife: Lynne Steimle, Manitowoc; three children: Michael & Beth Steimle, Julie & Joseph Spurney and Andrew & Suzanne Steimle; 11 grandchildren: Jake (Andrea) Steimle, Abby (Andy) Wiltman, Megan Steimle, Max Steimle, Sydnee Steimle & Eli Steimle, Sam (Mary) Spurney, Nate Spurney, Nick Spurney, Sophie Steimle and Elsie Steimle; three great grandchildren: Wyatt & Ruby Wiltman, Everett Steimle and Baby Spurney on the way; and a sister-in-law: Judith Rathsack. One niece, three nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Frederick & Marguerite Steimle and a brother-in-law: Thomas Rathsack.
We will all miss his sarcastic wit, tough banter and his bright smile.
Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc. A casual Celebration of Life visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 at The All-Care Family Center (located directly across the street from The Pfeffer Funeral Home) from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Entombment of John's cremated remains will occur at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc, at a later date.
