Ronald A. Metzger, 64, of Remington, Indiana, formerly of Sidell, passed away 4:10 pm Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at home. He was born in Whitley County, Indiana to Marvin & Dolores Rondeau Metzger. Ron married Kathleen DeBolt June 15, 1974 in Columbia City, Indiana. Kathy survives as well as: his father & step-mother: Marvin & Myrna Metzger; 1 daughter: Shelly (David) Dunk of West Lafayette, Indiana; 2 grandchildren: Austin Dunk & Ashley Dunk. Ron was preceded in death by his mother: Dolores Metzger; 1 son: Tadd; and 1 brother: Mike.
Ron was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed fixing things. The family lived for a time in Columbia City, Indiana; Wolf Lake, Indiana; Charlotte, Michigan; as well as Sidell, IL and later Remington, Indiana. Ron served on the Jamaica School Board from 1997 to 2013, as well as being President of the Board. He was a member of the East Tipp Baptist Church in Lafayette, Indiana. Ron really enjoyed & loved his grandchildren Ashley & Austin, and watching their sporting events as well as spending time with his family & church family.
Funeral service 10 am Illinois Time Tuesday at the Catlin Church Christ, 715 West Vermilion St., Catlin. Rev. Mike Roberts & Pastor Joel Flowers will officiate. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery south of Sidell. Visitation is from 4-7 pm on Monday at the Catlin Church of Christ. Robison Chapel in Catlin is handling service details.
