Ellis Edgar James, Jr. formerly of Clayton, Oklahoma passed from this life January 21, 2018. He was 88 years old. Ellis was born January 16, 1930 in Zaphra, Oklahoma to Ellis Edgar and Nellie Mae (Perkins) James.
He was a graduate of Clayton High School after which he graduated from Oklahoma A&M, later serving in the U.S. Army. He retired from the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs in 1980 and following retirement he returned home to Clayton.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two wives; Margaret and his LaHoma Jo, son; Ronnie Gene Waltrip and Daughter; Tenita Lynne Ritter.
He leaves behind a loving family that includes Ellis Edgar James, III & his wife Nancy James of Banning, California, Cecil Lauren & his wife Roberta James of Clayton, Paul Emerson & his wife Dori James of Mesa, Arizona, David Earl & his wife Dawn James of Parker, Arizona and Robert Wesley James of Clayton, Oklahoma, siblings; Mary Nell Crain of Weatherford, Texas, Charles Emerson & Wife Gloria James of Boene, Texas and Jaunita Lewark of Wichita, Kansas as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Burkhart Funeral Service of Clayton. He will be laid to rest at A.L. Stephens Cemetery of Clayton.
