Lyman Blood, 79, died at his home on Walnut Street at the Falls about 11:30 o’clock Thursday Evening. He had been confined to the house for about a year. Within the last month he had been failing fast, and gangrene one of his feet was the immediate cause of death. Mr. Blood leaves a widow who is his second wife, a son in Southbridge, and there is believed to be a brother in Philadelphia. He had been a resident of the Falls for over 30 years, and was for a long time employed in the cloth-room of the Chicopee Manufacturing Co. He was a Mason, belonging to Belcher Lodge and Unity Royal Arch Chapter. Mr. Blood had done no work for over 12 years. He was noted especially at the time of the rebellion as a stanch democrat. He was born in Ballston [Town of], N. Y., and was a brother of the late Senator [Isaiah] Blood. The funeral will probably be held tomorrow or Monday. The funeral will be in charge of the Masons. It will be held at 4 p.m. tomorrow at the house, and burial will be in Southbridge Monday.
