James Hunter Faysssoux. MD, was the son of Peter Fayssoux, MD and his second wife, Ann Smith of Charleston, South Carolina. On 16 Dec 1807, James H. Fayssoux married Elizabeth Cripps, daughter of John Splatt Cripps and Elizabeth Farr, in Charleston. James is listed as a physician, surgeon and planter in the Charleston area directories of 1806, 1807, 1809 & 1819. Dr. and Mrs. James H. Fayssoux had three known children: Mary Farr Fayssoux (Mrs. Francis Cordes Prioleau), Octavia Fayssoux (Mrs. Joseph Stewart) and Thomas Fayssoux, MD.
