Ed was born April 18, 1944 to Milton and Lucille Kneebone.
He attended Mt. St. Marys and went on to attend public school and graduated from Nevada Union High in 1962. He attended Sierra College until he was drafted into the US Army in 1965 where he served two years at Fort Lewis, Washington. Honorably discharged, he completed his education at Chico State and graduated with a BS degree in 1970.
Moving back to Grass Valley, he owned and operated the old Chevron station at the top of Alta Hill for a few years before becoming employed with the Department of Social Services in 1973. Ed retired from Nevada County in 2003.
Ed was an avid fisherman, enjoyed golfing, classic cars and gardening. He also belonged to the Grass Valley Sportsmens Club for 26 years.
He was survived by his wife of 29 years, Marcia; two daughters; a son; two step-daughters; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his grandson, Nicholas Burley.
Ed is laid to rest next to his parents in the historical Kneebone Cemetery at Bridgeport, South Yuba River State Park.
