Wilma “Ruth” Vann (nee Isham) died peacefully in her sleep at home on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017, in Kaufman at the age of 84.

Ruth is survived by her children, Kathy Vann of Kaufman, Peggy Smith and husband Rick of Nacogdoches, Robert Vann and wife Patricia of Wills Point, and Gray Vann of Kaufman; her sister, Merle Epperson of Terrell; her grandchildren, April Strick and husband Steve, Leslie Anders and her husband Wade, Chrystal Adams and her husband Scott, Brittany Hammond and her husband Casey, Katie Robinette and her husband Robert, Hunter Smith, Rachel Vann, Melanie Vann, Holly Vann, and Josh Smalley; great-grandchildren, Kaleb Stokes, Layla Vaughn, Jack Robinette, Hadley Hammond, Iris Adams and Jacob Stokes. She was preceded is death by her parents, William “Bill” and Myrtle Isham of Terrell; sisters, Billie Tarpley and Nelda Clemmons, of Terrell; sons, Stephen Vann and William Vann, of Wills Point; and grandson, Jason Mott of Kaufman.

Ruth was born on Aug. 5, 1993 in Hunt County to William “Bill” and Myrtle Isham. Her family remembers her as a generous woman, who was very dedicated to her family.

Ruth was accomplished at hand sewing and often made clothes for herself, her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading and doing word puzzles. She was a witty individual who loved reminiscing and talking about old times.

Graveside service is planned at Locust Grove Cemetery in Kaufman County on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017 at 11 a.m. with Wade Anders officiating.
