Wife of William Frederick Grierson. Daughter of James Cochrane and Sabrina Fowler.

DEATH: Mary Rebecca Grierson died Feb 19 1924 Calvert Co parents James Cockran born MD mother Martha Barrett born MD. born July 31 1851. age 72y 6m 19d housework, buried Mt. Harmony Cem. undertaker Harry T. Hutchins. died Dunkirk, Calvert Co, MD.

In the funeral records, Charles Belt Grierson paid for the burial of his mother Mary Rebecca Cockran.
In 1870 Mary Rebecca Cockran is living with William Frederick Grierson.

She was mother of 10 children per Nancy Bley. Listed as Rebecca on two of the boy's birth records but Mary E in Calvert Journal marriage announcement and Ann Rebecca in St. Paul's marriage record. Nancy said she is Mary Rebecca and dau. of James Cochran and Sophia Fowler. On the 1900 census, Mary Rebecca Cockran Grierson is listed as Rebecca Grierson, mother-in-law of Thomas Hall in Calvert County. Thomas was with his second wife, Carrie E Grierson. His first wife was Ellen Jane Grierson, a cousin of Carrie. With them, as sister-in-law to Thomas Hall, is Annie Grierson.
This Annie Mary Grierson married Merton Eldridge Marquess. She is a sister of Carrie and daughter of
Mary Rebecca. This should be in the info that I first sent you. Also Mary Rebecca is widowed in 1900.
A younger brother of Thomas Hall married a sister of Carrie. Thomas's brother Silas Franklin Hall
married Nettie A Grierson, Carrie's sister. Only found this out when I found where Thomas Hall was
buried. Thomas and Nettie Hall are buried in Sykesville, Carroll co. They are buried next to each
other at Sykesville State Hospital. He died in 1915 and Nettie died in 1930. I got Nettie's death certificate
to find out who she was. After 1900, if I remember correctly, Mary Rebecca was living with a son (1910) and grandson (1920) before she died in 1924. The only sibling of Mary Rebecca's that I do not have a death certificate for, is her brother, James Cockran. He must have died between 1900 and 1910. He is on the 1900 in Baltimore county with his family. On 1910, his wife is widowed. Going to look for his death certificate the next time that I am at the Hall of Records.
