War Victim's Funeral Held

Funeral services for Pfc. Jerry L. Patterson, of the Marine Corps, were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Smith Funeral chapel with Rev. Cecil Davles of Indianapolis, Ind., officiating.

Burial was In Greenlawn cemetery with graveside rites conducted by the Marino Corps unit from McAlester.

Patterson was killed in action in Vietnam over a week ago. He was born In New Mexico March 1, 1948 and enlisted In the Marine Corps last November. He had attended Checotah schools and had lived here most of his life. He was a member of a Baptist church in Indianapolis.

Survivors besides his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Patterson of Checotah Include; three brothers. Bill of Tulsa, John Wayne of Warner and Larry of the home; four sisters, Mrs. Lorene Nelson of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Bonnie Bevins and Mrs. Barbara Tucker, both of Checotah and Judy Patterson of the home.
