Daughter of Nicholas Jasper and Elizabeth Wyatt.

Rachel Jasper's father, Nicholas Jasper, disposed of his lands in South Carolina the latter part of 1795, anticipating the move to Kentucky in 1796. Nicholas had a land entry listed by the Filson Club, Kentucky Land Grants, p. 34, "Nicholas Jasper, 200 acres, Lincoln County, January 14, 1799, Little Sinking Creek." That part of Lincoln Country became Pulaski County.

Married Thomas Hinton on 9 Aug 1810, Pulaski Co., KY.

Rachel applied for an War of 1812 Widow's Pension (abt. 1871). He had fought in Captain Thomas Dollarhide's Company; Kentucky Battalion Mounted Volunteers.

The Act of 14 February 1871 granted pensions to surviving soldiers and sailors who had served 60 days in the War of 1812 and had been honorably discharged, or to those who had been personally named in any resolution by Congress for specific service of less than 60 days. The widows of such soldiers and sailors were eligible for pension provided the marriage had taken place before the treaty of peace was ratified on 17 February 1815.
