Mr. Yancey was fatally burned in a mattress fire that broke out in the bedroom at his home, 819 Fourth Avenue, Wednesday night.
An inquest conducted by Coroner H.C. Edenfield Thursday resulted in a verdict that Mr. Yancey had been the victim of "third degree burns, accidentally inflicted."
Surviving Mr. Yancey are his wife, Mrs. Clara B. Yancey; three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Bell, Mrs. Joyce Lewis and Miss Joan Yancey, Columbus; his mother, Mrs. A.O. Yancey, Toomsboro; four brothers, Marvin Yancey, Eatonton, Jack Yancey, Jacksonville and Roy Yancey, Columbus; and three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Bowden, Toomsboro, and Mrs. M.W. Holley and Mrs. Ruth Johns, Columbus.
