Iola D. “Buddy” Desmond
WOODSTOCK—Iola D. “Buddy” Desmond, 85, died Monday, March 14, 1994, in Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 21, 1908 in Spring Grove, the daughter of Charles W. and Alice M. (Churchill) Fish. On Nov. 3, 1932, she married Arthur J. Desmond in Woodstock. She was employed at the Chicago Title and Trust Co. in Woodstock for five years, and was appointed to the McHenry County Board of Review, where she worked for many years. She was a member of the B.P.W. in Woodstock. Surviving are two daughters, Honey (Bill) Schaeffer of Yorkville and Jill (Stephen) Northrup of Slidell, La.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Norma Morrissey of Mount Vernon, Iowa; and two nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. There will be no visitation. Friends will gather at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 17, in the Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home in Woodstock. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
