Mr. Childs age, 72, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on October 7, 1942 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Edwin & Ethel (Wilder) Childs Sr. He married his high school sweetheart Joan Compeau on November 3, 1962 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pinconning, Michigan. Ed enjoyed coaching little league baseball, traveling, and playing cards but most of all spending time with his friends and family. Surviving besides his wife of 52 years are their children; Joseph (Tammy) Childs and Cathy Childs, grandchildren, Samantha Stubstad, and Leona Childs, two great grandchildren; William and Charlotte, a brother Roy (Judy) Childs, sister in law Lynn Snyder, two brother in laws Charles Compeau, and John (Tammy) Compeau, and a special friend Delores Wojda and family. He was predeceased by a son Charles Childs, brother in law Dennis Snyder, sister in law Sharon Compeau and a dear friend Ed Kischnick.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 30, 2015 at 11 am from St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor David Jung presiding. Friends may call at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home on Thursday, from 12 noon to 8 pm. On Friday, Edwin will lie in state at the church from 10 am until time of service. In lieu of flowers those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. John’s Lutheran Church or a charity of their choice.
