Edwin "Lightening" Simmons born May 15, 1954 went home to be with The Lord on May 17, 2016 at the age of 62. He was an Employee for the City of Bogalusa with 35 years of service and also worked for the Bogalusa Daily News and the Washington Parish District Attorney's Office. He served as Assistant Advisor for Venture Crew 785 B.S.A for 5 years, and was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 31 years, Rose Alfonso Simmons of Bogalusa, a son, Steven Isaac Simmons of Bogalusa, a brother, James Earl Simmons of Varnado, La. And a half sister, Sharon Kaye Manzellie of Kenner, La. and other family members and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Esco Simmons and Audrey Holmes and grandparents, C.R. and Freddie Mae Ronning
Visitation will be held at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home on Thursday May 19, 2016 beginning at 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and will resume Friday morning May 20, 2016 after 8:00 A.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M. Rev. Joe Rozelle will officiate the services with the interment following in the Pounds Cemetery.
