Mrs. Elizabeth Carney
Mrs. Elizabeth Mayfield Carney 47, died yesterday (15 April 1945) afternoon following a brief illness at Protestant Hospital. Rites will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at Ivy Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev Phil A. Shelton, assisted by Dr. Daniel Miller. Burrial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Carney had been critically ill since Friday.
Born in Buffalo, Mo., she moved to Springfield, Mo., at an early age, where she received her education. She was the daughter of the late Mrs. nora Reed of Springfield.
She moved to Nashville 22 years ago. Her husband William G. Carney, who survives, lives at 301 Queen Street and is connected woth the Home Improvement Company.
In addition to her husband she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Phynous D. Collins and Miss Bettie Evine Carney, both of Nashville; four sons, Stg. William C. Carney, U.S. Army, stationed in Germany, and John E. Robert F., and Earl B. Carney, all of Nashville; and a brother, Lee Spain of Richmond, Cal.
