Dorothy Mae Hanson, age 89, of Augusta, GA, died Sunday, March 9, 2014 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center with Pastor John Nett officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m until service time on Saturday. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery.
Dorothy Mae Brooks, daughter of Alvin and Francis (nee Clabaugh) Brooks was born on Oct. 19, 1924 in Blairsburg, IA. She attended Webster City High School. She married Peyton LeRoy Allie. To this union 3 children were born, Leroy, Judy and Lynda. On July 3, 1962, she married Richard John "Red" Hanson. In 1981, Red and Dorothy moved from Arkansas to Augusta, GA where they Co-Founded New Life Natural Foods.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Judy (Eldon) Pigsley of Webster City, and Lynda (Tom) Buxton of Augusta, GA; seven grandchildren, Rory Raven of San Antonio, TX; Brooke Buxton of Augusta, GA; Rhett (Leah) Raven of Eldora; Heather (Lucio) DiCicco of Augusta, GA; Amber (Levi) Smith of Steamboat Rock; Sarah (Jason) Thornton of Augusta, GA, Sherri (Brad) Berg of Woolstock; and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Peyton Allie, son Leroy Allie, and husband Richard 'Red' Hanson, her four brothers Randall, Melvin, Stuart, and Riley and two sisters Yvonne Prehm and Retta Ranes
