Cecil Elizabeth Camera, 97, passed away Saturday (January 6, 2018) at Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains, NJ.

Cecil, born in Moselle, Mississippi, was one of 13 children born to Shadrick Theodore and Annie Rush Merritt, all of whom predeceased her.

Cecil joined the Women’s Army Corps and spent time in New Guinea before being honorably discharged. She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Joseph Camera.

Survivors include her son, Nicholas Camera (Susan), her daughters, Frances Brooks (Peter) and Ellen Casella (Frank); her grandchildren, David Camera (Rebecca), Lauren Camera and Lexi Casella; and great-grandchildren, Anthony Joseph Camera, Chastity Cipponeri and Lea Cecelia Simkovich.

Visitation was held at Dooley Colonial Home, NJ. 556 Westfield Ave., Westfield, on Tuesday January 9th from 3 PM to 7 PM and Wednesday from 9:30 AM to 10 AM.

There will be a prayer service at 10 AM Wednesday followed by military honors. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Staten Island.
