Emma Bennett was the eldest daughter of Thomas and Ann Lacy Bennett,she was born May 28, 1847 at Old Herry, Worcestershire, England. At the age of 14 she emigrated to America with her family in the year of 1861.
Emma was married to William James Panter on 26 March 1864 . She was his 3rd wife. He was 24 years older than she was, and died at age 49 in South Cottonwood 19 April 1872, leaving her with four small children under the age of 7. After his death she moved to Gentile Valley where most of her family were living, and two years later married Joseph Smith Collins, they had five children, three sons and two daughters. Later they homesteaded 160 acres south of St. Anthony Idaho. Just before her death she was moved to her daughters home, Annie Williams, where she passed away on 18 January 1923, at the age of 76 and was laid to rest in the Mound Valley Cemetery.
