He was a County Treasurer and worked at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary at the time he became ill. He died Tuesday afternoon about 3 o'clock in an Oklahoma City hospital. McFarland was brought to Oklahoma by his parents from Texas. They established a home in the Ti Valley. He taught school in early manhood. He married Miss Sallie O'Neal, who lived in Coal County. His first of three employments at the prison began in 1918. In 1929, he began his first of two terms as county treasurer. Subsequently he was a deputy in the county clerk's office and then city treasurer. In addition to the widow here, and daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Bernard of Nashville, Tenn. he is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Joe Fabry of McAlester.
