Rev. P. E. Yarborough and W. C. Bryan of Perryton conducted the funeral rites at Blue Mound Friday afternoon, March 8, for Mrs. Martha PENNINGTON, who died suddenly Tuesday afternoon at the home of her sister, Mrs. J. F. HIGHTOWER near Dombey, Okla.
Interment was in the Blue Mound cemetery, with J. L. RICE, Elden MITTS, Ward McALISTER, Clarence DELAY, Gail DILLINGHAM and Melvin RICE as pallbearers. A group of singers composed of Mrs. DeWitt HARRIS, Mrs. Vern WILSON, Mrs. Frank BELL sang three vocal numbers. Mrs. Wm. McCARTOR was pianist.
Martha Alice BRIMMAGE was born to William P. and Martha Charles BRIMMAGE near Dardenall, Arkansas, October 22, 1874, and passed away at her sister's home near Dombey, Oklahoma, March 5, 1940, at the age of 65 years. Early in life she was converted and united with the Methodist church.
She was united in marriage to Charles G. PENNINGTON July 4, 1893 and three children were born to them, two of whom died in infancy. Her husband preceded her in death in 1899 at Antlers, Oklahoma.
In 1904, with her small daughter, she homesteaded in Beaver county southeast of Gray, Oklahoma, making her home near Gray until 1921, when she moved to Anadarko, Oklahoma, which was her home until 1932. For the last eight years she has made her home with her sisters and daughter.
She was a loving wife and mother, ever ready to assist others.
Her parents, five brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. Surviving relatives are her daughter, Mrs. Ruby DILLINGHAM, Anadarko, Oklahoma; four grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Mary BRUMMLEY, Fort Worth, Texas; Mrs. J. F. HIGHTOWER, Dombey, Oklahoma and Mrs. Arthur GRAY, Gray, Oklahoma. - The Southwest Daily Times, Liberal, Kansas.
