Larry Osten, 78, of Creston, Nebraska, died Friday, January 5, 2018, at his home near Creston.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, January 10, 10:30 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 12.5 miles North, with Rev. Brad Birtell officiating. Interment will be in the Creston Fairview Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Wednesday from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 10:15 A.M. Memorials may be directed to the Creston Rescue Squad or family choice.

Larry was born April 12, 1939, in Columbus, Nebraska, to Arthur and Alma (Leffers) Osten. He attended St. John’s Lutheran School and graduated from Creston High School in 1957, where he was 6th in his class. He entered the U.S. Army on January 26, 1960, and served until he was honorably discharged on April 25, 1962. He returned to the Creston area and on August 18, 1963, was united in marriage to Margaret Granier. They lived in the Creston area all their lives where Larry farmed and later worked at Behlen Manufacturing. He was a member of the Creston Legion, Post # 306.

Son: Samuel (Kathy) Osten of Pittsburgh, PA
Daughter: Vicki Osten of Seattle, WA
Grandchildren: Natalie, Jeremy, and Matthew
