Visitation will be Friday January 12, 2018 , at Mt. Olive Baptist Church from 9:00 AM until services at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Richard Cothern will officiate. Hartman~Jones Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Ham was born February 20, 1923 in Jayess, MS. He was the son of Robert Ham and Hettie Alexander Ham.
He retired from Armstrong Tire and Rubber after 32 1/2 years. He then worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 9 years and then retired as a Cattle Farmer. He also served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Motor Machinist's Mate 3rd class. He was also a longtime member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church where he served as deacon, sang in the church choir and served on numerous church committees. He also love getting together with family and friend to share a good meal.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy Thornton Ham; one daughter, Sharon Ham Edwares and three brothers..
He is survived by his two grandchildren, Kevin Edwards of Smithdale, MS and Allyson Edwards of Jackson, MS; three great grandchildren, Stance Edwards, Braden Edwards and Kylie Edwards and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Edwards, Stance Edwards, Darrin Ham, Carl Wilson, Terry Burris and Lee Dunham
Honorary pallbearers will be Braden Edwards, Mike Thornton, Phillip Spring, Wayne Wallace, Phil Nettles and Milton Smith.
