In addition to her parents she was proceeded in death by her husband Clyde Ernest Shinn, sisters Rachel Spears, Mary Bethel Neel, Ruth Sloop and brother, Robert Henry Howard.
Lib’s kind gentle spirit touched all who knew her. She found great professional enjoyment during her many years at The Miller Clinic and later at Davidson College, and she cherished the lasting relationships she made at both places, but her true fulfillment came from her family and her faith. Until her declining health she was a faithful member of St. Michael the Archangel Anglican Church, Charlotte where she and her husband were founding members.
She freely and frequently opened her home to share with generations of her family and it was filled with laughter, delicious meals, and comfort. Her lessons of kindness, tolerance, love, and an appreciation of music will forever keep her memory alive in our family.
She is survived by her sons Paul Shinn (Sue) High Point, Hal Shinn (Claudia) Cornelius, grandchildren, Hallie Shinn Long (Lance) Durham, Andy Shinn (Sheila) Boynton Beach, FL, great-grandchildren Paul Durant Long, Howard West Long and Henry Alexander Long, Durham.
The family would like to thank the devoted caregivers who helped Lib remain comfortable at home during the past several years, especially Sherri Kelly, Rebecca Littlejohn and Lisa Maros.
A private graveside service will be held at NorthLake Memorial Gardens.
