Obituary for Alfred "David" Tayrien

Alfred “David” Tayrien, Jr., age 70, of Grove, OK passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017, the day after his 47th wedding anniversary, following several years of declining health.

David was born on July 28, 1947 to Alfred and Anne (Frakes) Tayrien in Bartlesville. He attended 1st -8th grade at Okesa School and graduated from College High School in Bartlesville, OK in 1965. Continuing his education, David attended Northeastern A&M College and later received a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from the University of Tulsa. On December 30, 1970, David married the love of his life and best friend, Linda Ramsey, in Broken Arrow, OK. The couple made their home in Houston, TX where David was the Regional Manager of Public and Government Affairs for Amoco Oil until retiring.

In 1998, they moved to Grove to be on Grand Lake, where they enjoyed many hours of boating and time spent with family. David was an avid gardener and proudly displayed his coveted award for “Yard of the Month” in Buffalo Shores South. He served on the Buffalo Shores South Board for the P.O.A. and Recreation Club and was the President of the Eastern Ok District Library System Board. A member of the First United Methodist Church, he taught the A.C.T.S. Sunday Class, as well.

David was known for his dry humor, being kind and reserved, assigning quirky nicknames and being opinionated but never overbearing or unfair. His adoration for his grandchildren was obvious and he cherished the time he was able to spend with them. His family was truly his most valued treasure.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, one brother Larry Sitek, and brother-in-law Cliff Poe.

Left to carry on David’s legacy: wife, Linda Tayrien of the home; son, Matt Tayrien and wife, Paula and grandson, Ryder all of Houston, TX; daughter, Lucy Hooper and husband, Billy and grandchildren, Zoey and Oliver, all of Pearland, TX; sisters: Nancy Poe of Grove, and Carol Woods and husband, Reed of Tulsa, OK, special niece, Michelle Kidwell and husband, Chris and great niece, Emily and great nephew, Nick, and a dear and longtime family friend, Jo Campbell of Overland Park, KS.
