Obituary for Luther R.L. Pellam Sr.
Luther R.L. Pellam, Sr., 82 of Stevenson, AL, died January 3, 2018 at Highlands Medical Center in Scottsboro, AL. Luther was the son of Luther R.L. and Ruby Eileen Guffy Pellam born September 25, 1935 in Stevenson. He retired from the U. S. Army after 20 years and 1 day. He was a Korean War and Vietnam War Veteran having received the following: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Purple Heart (2nd Oak Leaf cluster) Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, Army Commendation Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster) Expert Badge(.45 Cal Pistol), Expert Badge (M-16)Campaign: Vietnam Counter Offensive Phase II, III. Last Oversea Service: EURA-Germany. He was a member of the local VFW.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Eugene Pellam, Allie Pellam, Jessie Barnes, Bertha Summers.

Survivors include his wife Bonnie Mae Dunn Pellam; children: Luther R.L. (Ann) Pellam, Bryon David (Marissa) Pellam, Carolyn Mae Pellam (Anthony Allison) Moody; grandchildren: Christopher Pellam, A.J. Moody, Conner Moody, Eli Pellam, Tanner Pellam; brother Alvin (Ethel) Pellam.

Visitation will be Friday 5-9 PM and Saturday 12-9 PM at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL. The Funeral Service will be Sunday, January 7, at 2 PM at the funeral home chapel. Military honors will be provided by Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard. Interment will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Bridgeport, AL. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com
