Martha F. Brewer, 95, formerly of 224 Huston St., Connersville, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at Randolph Nursing Home in Winchester, where she had been living since February. She was born June 1, 1906, in Garrard County, Ky., to Samuel and Elizabeth McGuire Day and moved to Connersville in 1937. She was a private duty nurse and worked at Millers Cafeteria in Connersville for 15 years. She was one of the first members of Calvary Baptist Church, where she was in the church prayer group and choir. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, gardening and playing the organ and piano. Survivors include four sons, George Emery Brewer Jr., Noel V Brewer Sr. and Delbert L. Brewer Sr., all of Connersville, and Gene A. Brewer of Hillsboro, Ohio; two daughters, Patricia Ann Short of Lynn and Barbara C. Everidge of San Angelo, Texas; 23 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George M. Brewer, whom she married Aug. 16, 1926, in Lancaster, Ky, on Aug. 5, 1998; a son, Russell E. Brewer, on Sept. 9, 1991; two grandchildren; and 13 brothers and sisters, William, James, Nathan and Jake Day, Is-abelle Nance, Thuresa Smith, Matilda Grimes, Mary Gwinn, Nan Calico, Bonnie Wiley and three infants. Service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church, 309 W. 24th St., Connersville. The Rev. Mike Sanders has been asked to officiate. Burial will be at Dale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Showalter-Blackwell-Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
