Sylvia Bowen Austian, age 93, died peacefully on December 29, 2017 at the home of her son's Gary and Randy Austian. Sylvia was born July 25, 1924 in Wellston, OK. She is the daughter of Thomas and Frances Bowen. In 1941 Sylvia married Alfred Austian. Alfred was in the Army Air Corp and they moved to Brownsville, TX and then to Corpus Christi, where Alfred taught Aircraft hydraulics. They had 5 children, Alfred, Larry Gary, Keith and Randy Austian. In 1989 she lost her husband, the love of her life. If you ever saw them dance together, the smiles on their faces showed the deep love they had for each other. IN addition to raising her 5 children, she was an active member of her community. She loved all people and enjoyed talking to everyone in the community. She sold Avon around her community for extra money and later went to work for Dayton Tires as an inspector. Later she worked for the Cleveland County Election Board for 15 years. Later in life she gave out food samples at various stores throughout the community to keep herself busy. Sylvia was an active member of the First Baptist Church and loved singing in the choir. She often sang hymns and various songs at home and with her family. Family and friends were her passion, and she made everyone feel special. She was silly and fun, and loved without end. Sylvia is survived by her 4 sons, Alfred, Gary, Keith and Randy Austian; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives and close friends. She was preceded in death by 1 child, Larry Austian and 3 grandchildren, Tony Austian, Carla Austian and Alan Austian. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2017 from 4pm to 8pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 4, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Crestview Baptist Church, 7715 Hiwassee Rd, Oklahoma City, with Dr. Terry Rials officiating.
