March 30, 1937 - December 17, 2017

His Legacy… Dale R. Thurston, 80, passed away December 17, 2017. He was born on March 30, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, to Clair Manley Thurston and Dorothy (Owen) Thurston. Dale was an Executive Vice President for Paul Inman & Associates for 30+ Years. During the Korean War, Dale served stateside in the Army Reserves. He will be remembered as a kind, loving and extraordinarily generous man with his time, his financial resources, and his beloved lake house. As Volunteer of the Year in 2006 for Glacier Hills Senior Living Community, he would routinely invite the residents over for BBQs on the deck, boating on the lake and visits to the zoo. Dale’s favorite activity was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When Dale was not with family or friends he loved to travel in his RV and see the country.

His Family… Dale will be missed by his children, Keith (Lisa) Thurston, Julie (William) White, Mary (Ralph) Slider, Pamela (Robert) Wittenberg, Jenifer (Michael) Howell; his Brother David (Nancy) Thurston; his second wife Janet Thurston; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and extended family. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Jane (Spears) Thurston, his third wife Shirley (Trudeau) Tobin Thurston, his brother, Richard Thurston; his sister, Nancy McFarland and his parents Clair and Dorothy.

His Farewell… Dale’s family and friends will gather on December 26, 2017 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm with a Memory Service at 7pm at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel. His Community Farewell will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at (9:30 AM Gathering) 10:30 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 711 Rickett Road, Brighton, Michigan. Father Mathias Thelen will serve as celebrant. Memorial contributions may be given in Dale's name to ALS Association and to the Leukemia Society.
