Thomas Newton Huff was born May 21, 1854 in Gwinnett County, Georgia to Oliver Martin Huff and Cynthia Minthia Evans. On December 24, 1874 he married Margaret E. Jackson in Gibson County, Tennessee.

Thomas Newton Huff was in Gibson County, Tennessee in 1880 with first wife and their son.
In 1900 he is in Lonoke County, Arkansas with second wife and family.
1910 he is in Alcorn County, Mississippi with son, Walter.
1920 he is back in Lonoke County, Arkansas with son James Robert.
Sometime between 1920 and 1929 he traveled to Jones County, Texas where two of his sons were living, William Oliver Huff and Carson Clay Huff. It is here that he died.

"He moved to Fannin County from Arkansas in 1900 and moved to Jones County in 1907 to the Swan's Chapel Community.
