Born on May 7, 1914, in Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late Howard S. and Linnie (Groner) Hartman.
He and his wife resided in Palmer Township for 31 years before moving back to Stroudsburg.
He worked at Bethlehem Steel until V-Day and as a burner service manager for Kepler's Fuel Company in Easton for 40 years. After retiring from Kepler's in 1981, he worked for Lessig Oil Company.
He was a member of Cherry Valley United Methodist Church and AARP.
He is survived by two daughters, Joyce G. Dech and her husband, James, of Stroudsburg and Janice M. Levers of Escondido, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Lester W. Hartman, who died in 1994; two brothers, John and Jacob; and two sisters, Mary Williams and Agnes Gunn.
