Robert C. Allwein, 97, passed away Friday, December 22, 2017 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the son of the late Carroll and Emma Oliver Allwein.

Bob was a graduate of Lebanon High School Class of 1938 and attended Penn State prior to WWII. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a Radarman First Class aboard the USS Marchand DE-249 in the North Atlantic. Later he joined the Hospitality Industry in administration auditing and management in several hotels. Bob helped to open the new Quality Inn at Centerville many years ago.

Bob was married to Violet Witmyer Allwein for 65 years before she passed away in 2008.

He was a resident of Luther Acres since 1993. After retirement Bob and Violet loved to travel, including Hawaii and the Caribbean. He was a member of Lititz United Methodist Church.

In his early days Bob was active in scouting and earned the rank of Eagle.

Bob is survived four sons, Kenneth L. Allwein, husband of Jane, Lititz, Barry D. Allwein, husband of Deborah, Lititz, Gerald L. Allwein, husband of Fran, Lititz and Sidney J. Allwein, husband of Sandy, Virginia Beach, VA; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A celebration of Bob's life will take place 11 a.m. Monday, January 15, 2018 at Lititz United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Steven W. Rodgers officiating. His family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the church. Private interment in Penryn Cemetery.
