Phyllis Jean DeBreto, 91, longtime resident of Virginia died Monday, December 26, 2017, at the Essentia Health Virginia Hospital.

She was born July 18, 1926, in Merrill, Wisconsin, the daughter of Gustave and Lillian (Latzig) Krueger. She was a graduate of Merrill High School and went on to receive her AA from the Virginia Jr. College. Phyllis was united in marriage to Lawrence M. DeBreto on August 23, 1947, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Merrill, WI.

Phyllis worked as a homemaker, and also worked at U.S. Steel in the agglomerator. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Women of the Moose, and the Sweet Adeline’s singing groups. She enjoyed acting, singing, gardening, fishing, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Phyllis is survived by her children: Lawrence, Jr. (Ilaria), Rocci, Tom, and Paul (Teresa Ploof); nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence, and her granddaughter, Jennifer DeBreto.

Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.
