The Rev. Marguerita Craycroft was born in Otay, CA to Howard and Violet Banks. A lifelong Californian, she passed quietly at her home in La Mesa at the age of 94. Magi also enjoyed her home in Green Valley, AZ, in the desert she so loved.
She married Robert King in 1942 in Chula Vista, CA and welcomed the four children who would be the joys of her life.
She was affiliated with the Church of Religious Science, of which she became an Ordained Minister in 1969. She lovingly served the church of Montebello, CA as their spiritual leader.
In 1969, she married Jim Craycroft, a longtime friend, and they shared many happy years traveling in Mexico and being together.
Magi was a frequent traveler to the many places she learned about as a girl, often recounting the song about “faraway places with strange sounding names”. She circled the globe seven times, touching almost every continent and enjoyed staying in touch with those she met.
She had a wonderful memory and was always interested in the events and lives of her family and friends. She loved to tell jokes and cheer up those around her. She was the most thoughtful, kind and generous person and will be missed by many.
Magi was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Hazel Bole and Betty Allen, as well as both of her husband’s. She is survived by her sister, Helen Matthews, and her four children, Hollis King, Joyce (Skip) Higginbotham, Paula (Salvador Viesca) King, and Janet (Richard) Mangiarelli, as well as eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
