Samuel D. Houke, 79 years, of Temperance, MI passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017 in Hickory Ridge of Temperance. The son of Cloyd and Marie (Reed) Houke he was born February 20, 1938 in Toledo, OH. A Journeyman pipefitter and welder, he worked for the Local 292 most of his adult life. Sam also served as a Bedford Township volunteer fireman for many years.

A master wood craftsman, Sam loved to go up north and enjoyed hunting. He was a member of the Blackhawk Motorcycle Club.

A loving husband and father, he is survived by his wife, Margaret (Welshans); children, Dwaine Houke, Johnell Houke, Richard (Corinne) Houke, Philip (Marie) Houke, Rolland (Dawn) Houke, Holly (Steven) Orns, and Tammy (Daniel) Gratz, and Jennifer Cecere; sisters, Dolores, Patty, Lillian; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Cloyd Jr. and Jack Houke, and sister, Margaret Graham.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Urbanski's Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Avenue Temperance, MI where the Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Cremation will follow.
