Roy Otis Leake, 66, of 6 Canaan St., Luray, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, at his home surrounded by family.

He was born on July 11, 1951, in Harrisonburg and was a son of the late James Olin Leake and Pearl Hilliard Leake.

Roy was a 1970 graduate of Page County High School and earned his degree from Madison College (now James Madison University). He was a schoolteacher, retiring with 31 years of service, teaching in Shenandoah County Schools and in Page County at Springfield Elementary and Luray Elementary schools. He worked 18 summers as a Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) inspector in Fairfax and 11 years for a private consultant for VDOT in Fairfax, most recently HNTB of Arlington. He was a member of the Luray United Methodist Church.

On May 9, 1997, he married his wife, who survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are a stepdaughter, two sisters, a brother, and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Ann Leake.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30, at the Luray United Methodist Church by the Rev. Erich Bennett. Burial will be in the Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery in Luray.
