Carol Joyce Goodin was born on December 14, 1946 in Geary, Oklahoma to O.V. and Wanda Williams Cranfill, and passed away on December 26, 2017 in Vernon, Texas at the age of 71.
Carol graduated from Greenfield High School in Greenfield, Ok in 1965. She graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma with a B A and Master’s Degree in Elementary Education.
Carol married Kenneth Mefford in 1967. They had two children, Stephen Kyle and Stephanie Renee. They were married for 16 years when Kenneth preceded her in death in 1983.
In 1985, Carol married Gerald Babb. They were blessed with one son, Derek Allen Babb. Gerald and Carol were married for 16 years when he preceded her in death in 2001.
On November 30, 2002, God brought Carol and Jimmie Goodin together in marriage. They enjoyed 15 wonderful years together melding their blended family. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Eldorado, where she was a faithful servant in many roles.
It was Carol’s love for teaching and each of her students that allowed her a long career of 34 years. She taught elementary education at Southside Public Schools, Northside Vernon ISD, and Eldorado Public Schools.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, spouses Kenneth Mefford and Gerald Babb, and one sister, Norma McLean.
She is survived by her husband Jimmie of the home, a son, Kyle Mefford of Oklahoma City, and children Brady, Jayden, Tyler Mefford and daughters Zoey and Kiley, of Eldorado, daughter Stephanie Marsh and husband Don of Vernon, TX and children and Destanee and fiancé Jace Thomae of San Angelo, TX, Jerod, Josh, and granddaughter Paisley of Vernon, son Derek Babb and fiancé Elizabeth Boyd of Oklahoma City, stepchildren Steve and Monica Babb of Eldorado, and their son Eric, Debbie Huber of Little Rock, AR and children Melissa Jill Coleman, Ashley Swain, and Bryan Urie, Larry and Cynthia Black of Roscoe, TX and children Madison Black, Alyssa and Kade Betts and boys, Rick and Fonette Hedrick, Bethany, OK and children Jordan Hedrick, Trey and Paige Hedrick and children, sisters Glenda DeSpain, of Watonga, OK, Joan and Stormy Heiner of Okarche, OK, and Jean and Chris Kamphaus, Canute, OK, her nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services are 2pm December 29, 2017, Friday at the First Baptist Church of Eldorado interment will follow at Eldorado Cemetery.
