Cathryn was a longtime Canadian County area resident. She was a graduate of Hinton High School and received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Education from Southwestern College in Weatherford, OK. Cathryn Brooks married Froman Cowan on February 17, 1983 in Oklahoma City, OK. She was a retired elementary school teacher after 37 years of service. She was a member of the Cherokee Hills Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Charles & Allean (Barker) Brooks and brothers Garnet Brooks, Francis Brooks, and sister: Claudean Joyner, Sister in laws: Helen Brooks, Beverly Brooks, and brother in law Marvin Joyner.
Survivors include: Her Husband Froman Cowan of the home. Son – Brantley Cowan of Oklahoma City, OK. 2 – Daughters: Connie Bowen & husband Tom of Yukon, OK. Kelly Kemp & husband Doug of Oklahoma City, OK. Brothers: Garland Brooks of El Reno, OK. Frank Brooks of Ft. Worth, TX. Sisters Charlean & husband Bill of Lake Geneva, WI. Carolyn Overmeyer of Le Moore, CA. Sister in Law Mary Ann Brooks of Hydro, OK. Grandson Tyler Bowen of New Haven CT. Numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 29, 2017 in the Cherokee Hills Church of Christ in Warr Acres, OK. Mr. Jim Mitchell & Mr. Granville Clapp will officiate. Eulogy will be by Tyler Bowen. Interment will be in the Buena Vista Cemetery.
